Irvine Welsh and Robert Carlyle have paid tribute to director Antonia Bird after she died from cancer.
Bird, who suffered from a rare anaplastic thyroid cancer, passed away peacefully in her sleep aged 54.
Author Welsh tweeted after the news broke: ‘Here is our top Bird. RIP ever marvelous Ants.’
While Carlyle, who starred in her best known films Priest, Face and Ravenous, said: ‘Such a sad day today. RIP Antonia Bird. Farewell my beautiful friend.’
