The Full Monty was a runaway success, becoming the highest-grossing British film at the time when it was released in 1997, until it was overtaken by Titanic.
25 years later, Disney Plus has given the beloved movie, which followed a group of Sheffield-based friends perform a strip tease to raise cash for child support, a TV series remake.
The 2023 sequel doesn’t pick up where the film left off, but instead follows the characters in the present day, as they deal with heartbreak, austerity and friendship.

Who is in the cast of The Full Monty TV series?
Fans will be delighted the original cast from The Full Monty film have returned for the TV series.
This means that Robert is back as hapless but lovable dad Gaz Schofield and Wim Snape reprises his role as his son Nathan
Mark, meanwhile, is back as Dave and Lesley continues to star as his wife Jean.
Dave and Gaz’s friends, who performed the strip routine, Lomper, Horse and Gerald are in the TV series, played by Steve Huison, Paul Barber and Tom Wilkinson respectively.
The new addition to their friendship group is housing officer Darren, played by The Durrells star Miles Jupp.
Hugo Speer, who had been reportedly sacked from the drama over ‘inappropriate conduct’ claims, makes a brief appearance as Guy.
New cast members include Lomper’s husband Dennis, played by Paul Clayton, and Talitha Wing, who is Gaz’s daughter Destiny, with Tupele Dorgu staring as her mum Yaz.
Newcomer Aiden Cook plays schoolboy Twiglet, Phillip Rhys Chaudhary stars as teacher Dillip and Sophie Stanton is music teacher Hetty and a friend of Jean’s.
When is The Full Monty series out on Disney Plus?
The TV series landed on the Mouse House’s steaming platform on Wednesday (June 14).
All eight episodes have been dropped at the same time, meaning fans can binge-watch the entire show.
